All participants must be committed to attend the entire time of the trek. It is the expectation that there will be no mid-trek arrivals and/or departures. There is no access in or out once groups have left their staging areas. The ranch entrance is always locked and secure. Unforeseen emergencies while trekking must be handled according to the situation at hand. No exits from property for ice, groceries, gas, etc. So please plan accordingly.
1 five-gallon bucket with a lid (screw-on lid suggested) for your gear (line it with a plastic garbage bag and come with all your gear inside)--PUT YOUR NAME AND WARD ON YOUR BUCKET. Can be Padded.
1 warm sleeping bag, plus an extra blanket rolled up inside. (Does not need to go in the bucket) Put it in a separate plastic bag labeled with the name and ward.
1 old coat (heavy and warm)
Sunglasses
1 rain poncho, rain jacket, or umbrella
1 pair of gloves. (Hands get sunburned while pushing and pulling a handcart.)
1 extra pair of shoes in case the ones you’re wearing get wet to hike in (don’t buy new ones, they will give you blisters. Sturdy running or tennis shoes will work fine if you don’t have hiking boots.
6 pairs of socks for hiking. (3 pairs) thin ones to wear close to your skin, and (3 pairs) thicker cotton socks over the thin ones to prevent chaffing and blisters.
3 sets of underwear
Pajamas (if not, sleep in clothes)
2 bandannas
1 small hand towel and a comb or brush
1 toothbrush and travel-size toothpaste
5 bandaids and prescribed medications only
Plastic plate or pie tin for meals
Eating utensils
Refillable Insulated Water bottle (a good one) for the trail and meals. You will each be responsible for washing your mess kit after each meal
2 heavy-duty garbage bags
Fanny pack or shoulder bag to keep hands free
